Davis Instruments Vantage Pro2 Weather Station (Wireless)

Davis Instruments Vantage Pro2 Weather Station (Wireless) Reviews

More Picture

The Vantage Pro 2 (wireless) is a tremendous product. No complaints at all other than the Weatherlink software. I purchased the unit and another console for the house. The system works flawlessly and both consoles receive and display data properly. I transmit my data to MADIS (I am CW5020) things work well. My system is 3 years old and changing batteries and occassional other maintenance (Davis charges fair prices for items to be periodically replaced) is all that is necessary. I would give this unit 5 stars but the software is less than ideal. Davis issues an upgrade and the functionality is less--don't understand. Rain isn't properly displayed on CWOP (it used to be) and other matters. In short, buy the hardware and look for other solutions for software.br /br /My weather station data is visible here:br / [...]br /br /br /

Setup and use of Davis Vantage Pro2 - DSoar -
The unit was simple to assemble. The manual was very good. It anticipated questions very well. The technical support staff answered my questions . I had a neighbor's transmitter sending data to my console. It was easy to rectify with help from support. The calibration process is straight forward.

Love the Wireless - Grandmom1+6 -
We installed this wireless Wizard last week, replacing the wired Wizard we have had for about 10 years. It seems to be working well. It's nice not having the wires across the yard and the back deck. I'm still learning how to use the display functions. Unfortunately, [...] wants rain measured at 7:00 am each day for the previous 24 hours. The Wizard measures the rain for a day (ending at midnight). I'm still trying to figure out how to do this without changing the date/time.

little better than a clock and thermometer - Eric F. Kaufman - San Diego, CA USA
What I was looking for was a simple and inexpensive instrument that could provide some basic weather data, specifically the barometric pressure (which is indicative of advancing weather systems). Instead of the barometric pressure, you get the little cloud-or-whatever-it-is icon in the top right, that being the device's interpretation of pressure data (which is does not show you). The only way to tell if a barometer is accurate is to check it against known accurate ones, over a few days at minimum. Because this isn't possible on this device, essentially you're just hoping that the little icon in the top right is somehow always accurate.br /br /It's a toy, and I should have known better than to buy a cheap product and expect it to behave even slightly like a quality instrument. br /br /If you just want something that will tell you the temperature, humidity, and time, I suppose this is great. Although a ninety nine cent drugstore version you can hang on your wall will do the same thing in that regard. The extra money you're spending is going towards the gee-I-hope-it-works-even-though-there's-no-way-to-check prediction icon. br /br /If you need real weather data, move along.

fromdavid i have one of these and it is an excelent product and very realible i take it with me whenever i go up north or on an outing a very good instrument it hangs round your neck and is very good for changes to the weather i recomend this to all who go walkabout
